TRAINEE BANKING ASSISTANT 

Required Qualifications:

Pass 6 subjects in G.C.E. Ordinary Level with at least 5 credit passes including Mother Language (Sinhala/Tamil) and Mathematics obtained at one sitting.
And
Pass in G.C.E Advanced Level with 3 Passes (excluding General English and General Knowledge) obtained at one sitting. However, having passed in General English will be considered as an added advantage.

Preference would be given to those who possess knowledge on computer applications and working knowledge in Tamil.

Those who are selected for Tamil speaking areas must have working knowledge in Tamil medium.

Age

Not less than 18 years and not more than 23 Years as at the closing date of the applications (Applicant’s date of birth should be on or after 31.07.1996 and on 31.07.2001 or before).

Selection Procedure

The Knowledge of shortlisted candidates will be tested by written examination which will comprise with following subjects/papers.

Candidates who meet the stipulated standards at the said examination will be called over for one or more interviews. Selections would be done on District basis and the applicants should be permanent resident of that district for at least 05 years

Release of Results

The results of written examination of all candidates would be released by the Department of Examinations through the official website www.results.exams.gov.lk or by post.

Training and Placement:

The appointees will be required to undergo a period of two years training covering all aspects of banking. Confirmation will be subject to probation period of one year (which compute after the training period of two years) and evaluation of performance during the probation period. Confirmation will be considered after producing the Certificate in Banking and Finance (CBF)/ Intermediate in Applied Banking & Finance of IBSL or equivalent qualification from recognized professional body.

Remuneration:

Trainees will be paid a fixed monthly allowance of Rs.19,000/-  (all inclusive) during the first year of training and Rs.22,000/- (all inclusive) during the second year of training under contract basis. Those who complete training of two years successfully will be absorbed in to the permanent cadre of Banking Assistant Gr. 5-I and placed on the initial salary step of the salary scale of Rs.32,480/- 280 x 20 – 38,080/- per month.

Payment of Examination Fees

Following a payment of Rs. 750∕- as the examination fee at any RDB branch to the Account No. 134012000201, the receipt should be pasted on to the application and sent. However, money orders nor stamps would be accepted as examination fees and reimbursement of examination fees nor exchange of it to another examination would be done under any reason. It is advisable to retain a copy of payment receipt with the applicant.

Provision of False Information

As per the terms and conditions of recruitment, if an applicant is found as not having required qualification to apply nor sit for the examination, before or at or after the examination or at any instance, his∕ her candidacy would be cancelled. If it is revealed that an applicant has provided false information intentionally or has concealed an important information or is proven that during his∕ her service period or at any occasion that he∕ she was ineligible to sit for the examination, he∕ she would be expelled from service instantly. The candidacy of applicants who have not fulfilled the requirements stipulated in this advertisement would be cancelled.

The post “Trainee Banking Assistant” and District of residence should be indicated on the top left hand corner of the envelope containing the application. It is compulsory for each applicant to have completed all qualifications relevant to the post, before the final date the applications are called in for the examination.Changing the medium requested is not permitted. Canvassing of any form is considered as a disqualification.

CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall internal audit plan for the bank covering all aspects of business which include review of the internal controls introduced by the management for the effectiveness in design and operation with special emphasis on internal controls relating to financial reporting.
  • Review of Bank’s policies, procedures to comply with laws, regulations and disciplinary procedure which could have a significant impact on Bank operations and risks.
  • Train and develop the staff in the internal audit division to reach their full potential.
  • Conduct investigations into the matters where necessary and report them to the audit committee.
  • Coordinate with external auditor/s, government agencies and other regulations with regard to audit matters.
  • Review and appraise the economic and efficient deployment of resources.
  • Assist the Board Audit Committee in its deliberations.

 

Key requirements

  • Professional Membership of at least one of the following.
  1. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka
  2. Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales
  3. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of UK
  4. Chartered Management Accountants UK/ Sri Lanka or any other equivalent professional qualification
  • 08 years post qualifying experience in auditing at Executive level of which 02 years should be in a Bank/Financial Institution
  • Excellent hands on experience with knowledge on IT based audit technique.
  • Familiarity with Auditing and Accounting standards issued CA Sri Lanka and other government institutions and industry best practices
  • Proven track record of man management and interaction at board level.
  • Familiarity with the banking sector corporate governance practices and disclosure requirements.
  • Candidates with knowledge on IFRS will be an added advantage.
  • Age – below 55 years at the closing date of application.

 

Reporting Lines

The position will be reporting directly to the Board Audit Committee of the bank and the position exercise complete independence from the bank’s operations.

Chief Internal Auditor position is coming under Key Management Personnel (KMP) of the management structure of the RDB.

Key Requirements

  • 15 years post qualifying experience as Attorney-at-law of which at least 07 years experience as Board Secretary in a Bank/ financial institution or any other recognized state institution.
